Self Portrait Tuesday - Put Your Best Foot Forward

About my picture:
I had a pedicure - a real splurge for me - the day before I went into the hospital to have baby Sophia. So, that is why I still have the pretty hot pink toenails! I got the camera out to take my picture and sat down to look at my feet and think about what I wanted the picture to look like. While I was still thinking, Shady, our black lab, collapsed on the floor next to my feet. And, I thought it made a really great picture! How does it put my "best foot forward"? I strive to be the kind of person that deserves the unconditional love of my dog...

I decided to participate in the self-portrait Tuesday challenge for this week - Put Your Best Foot Forward - seen on Lelly's Musings Blog!

our feet carry us along in this world. we ran and jumped and played with our feet when we were growing up. our feet carried us off to school, off to new homes, new communities. our feet move us as we pace the floor.

have you looked at your feet lately? are they in your favorite heels? are you barefoot? are you wearing exercise shoes? what's on your feet this weekend? what do your feet say about you? do they make you laugh? are you self-conscious about them? in need of a pedicure?

Fabulous New Song...

I have always been moved by music. I grew up thinking that I wish my life, like a movie, had a soundtrack. I love music. I listen to music all the time.
Today, while working in my studio, I was playing a country radio station on the computer while I sewed. I heard the most amazing song. I just had to stop right in the middle of what I was doing and post here about it...
It is by a band called Blue County and the song is titled, "I Get to".

Story People for Today

Promises
I only promise the little things. The big things don't pay attention to what I want anyhow.

Getting Ready for Spring...

I guess Spring doesn't officially come for another month or so, but the weather has been warmer and the sunshine has been beautiful. So, I am thinking about spring more.
I read these quotes and wanted to post them here...

"In the spirng, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt." - Margaret Atwood.

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; If we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." - Anne Bradstreet

“Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.” - Sarah Ban Breathnach

“The splendor of the rose and the whitness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its lovliness.” - Therese of Lisieux

"I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that."

It is Girl Scout Cookie Time!

Yippee! It is girl scout cookie time! When I was a kid, my favorite flavor was thin mints, but now it is definately All Abouts. I just cannot get enough of them. But, from year to year, for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of that cookie! They are the ones in the red box and they are so scrumptious!
The official Girl Scouts description:
All Abouts: A shortbread cookie with a layer of chocolate on the bottom and Girl Scout related sayings on the top. These cookies come in a pink box. All Abouts are made by Little Brownie Bakers.

Support the Girl Scouts and find those cookies!

Folk Artist Discovery...

This folk artist was recently profiled in Southern Living magazine - Jim Shore. He has some really gorgeous items and his prices are very reasonable.
Some of my favorites...
The Rabbit Weathervane

The 12 days of Christmas Santa

Angel with Dove

The most amazing cookie ever...

If you have a Fresh Market grocery store near you... I recommend that you run... don't walk... and purchase their "Kitchen Sink" cookies. Wow! They are fabulous!
They make them with an oatmeal cookie base and add all sorts of other goodies to them - chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips - you name it!
If you don't have a local Fresh Market grocery store and you are forced to make your own Kitchen Sink cookies - Here are a few recipes for this type of cookie that I found online:
